2018 GA meeting: May 3rd in Belgium

2017 GA MEETING

The 2017 GA meeting took place on Thursday 4 May in Karlsruhe, Germany and was a resounding success with attendance reaching 60% - the highest since 2010. Hosted by Cronimet Holding GmbH, the meeting lasted 5 hours with several key decisions taken by way of vote.

Some highlights:

  • Change of Governance: Election of Tim Hird (Prince-Erachem) as Chairman; Dr Bernd Friede (Elkem) as First Vice Chair; Arnaud Vigier (Eramet) as Second Vice Chair; and Dr Doreen McGough (MARA) as Secretary General
  • Approval of an established SIEF data-sharing model in accordance with regulation 2016/9
  • Approval of the 2017 workplan and budget
  • Approval of plan to share consortium-owned OECD/GLP studies for K-REACH registration purposes

PROPOSED CLP NOTIFICATION - Regulation No.1272/2008

The regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures, which implements the Global Harmonisation System (GHS) in the EU, entered into force in January 2009. Note that 3 January 2011 is the deadline for the notification to the classification and labeling inventory of substances (the ECHA).

To assist in the harmonisation of notification, the REACH Mn Consortium has prepared the classification in accordance with the CLP regulation for manganese and certain other Mn-based substances. These CLP proposals are the result of an extensive review of existing literature, justified read-across and/or testing performed under the consortium’s programme of work for compliance with the EU’s REACH Regulation.
